A new co-working hub, GreaterWorx, officially opened in West End on Friday, Jan. 16 with a ceremonial ribbon cutting hosted by Birmingham nonprofit Network Navigator.

GreaterWorx was founded by Christopher and Robin Burrell, a husband-wife duo with a “hared vision for creating a space where professionals, creatives, and entrepreneurs can work, grow and build together,” according to a press release.

The ribbon cutting event involved community members, local leaders and business partners. The host, Network Navigator, which was launched in May 2024 by Prosper to address a gap in resources for small and micro businesses in Birmingham.

“The work is already being done, but we are making sure that the community is aware that we are working here. There’s a place here for them to gather. There are resources, people and opportunity here.”

Naila Jackson, Founder of Network Navigator

Both Christopher and Robin’s lives in West End go way back — in fact, the two of them first met at the Five Points West Library — and they wanted to bring something meaningful to their community.

“We’re looking forward to seeing entrepreneurs launch their business from here, create their best works from here…we believe that the next great American novel can be written here, the next great business idea could be launched from here.”

GreaterWorx’s first tenant is Alive and Well Counseling, a youth mental health therapy service owned by Tyesha Howard.

The space was created thanks in part to a grant from the City of Birmingham to renovate the building facade, which will be forgiven if GreaterWorx stays in business for at least five years.
