One of Birmingham’s most popular cocktail bars is expanding north. Adiõs, a James Beard Award semifinalist last year, will open a new Huntsville location later this year.

The Huntsville location will have the same menu and ambiance as our Magic City location, which should make it just as successful in the Rocket City.

Adiõs headed to Huntsville

If you didn’t already know, Adiõs is the brainchild of two hospitality industry veterans, José Medina Camacho and Jesús Méndez. Both born in Mexico, Camacho and Méndez immigrated to Alabama in the early ’90s and made their mark on Birmingham’s food and beverage scene.

Receiving a nod from the prestigious James Beard Foundation is not a surprise for anyone who has visited the colorful downtown Birmingham bar. Since it opened in November 2023, the establishment has been featured nationally in Forbes Magazine for its festive drinks and named Food & Wine one of the 15 Best Tequila Bars in the U.S..

According to the restaurant’s social media, the Huntsville location will open at The Lumberyard in Downtown Huntsville in late spring or early summer.

The Lumberyard is a Huntsville icon that has operated in some capacity in Huntsville for about 120 years. It closed down during the COVID-19 pandemic and finally re-opened in 2024 with the help of Ben Lovett, a partner in The Orion Amphitheater (and member of Mumford & Sons).
