1. Golden Temple Cafe

Golden Temple in Five Points South is Birmingham’s first and longest-running vegetarian restaurant. Since 1973, Golden Temple has served as a Natural Grocery Store and Cafe—serving vegan, vegetarian, organic and gluten-free options.

2. Chopt

Coining “Better Tastes Better” as one of their core values, Chopt emphasizes how ingredients are sourced, treated and prepared.

You can grab a salad, bowl or wrap at two convenient locations around the Greater Birmingham Area.

3. Adam and Eve Café

Opened in late 2024 by Yemeni father and son duo Sam and Sal, Adam and Eve Café is a “hidden gem” in Five Points, offering everything from pastries and sandwiches to crepes, smoothies and even vegan options.

4. Kale Me Crazy

With the menu being as fun as its name, Kale Me Crazy is a must-visit when it comes to healthier options.

Try the Powerhouse and Tropical Trippin’ smoothies and thank me later.

5. Chop N Fresh

This “salad concept” eatery sits in Mountain Brook’s Lane Parke. Chop N Fresh is known for serving fresh ingredients from local vendors— plus, they make their dressings in-house every day! Now you have to visit.

6. Brick & Tin

At Brick & Tin, you can rest assured knowing everything is loaded with ingredients sourced from local farms.

Head to one of their two locations and taste the hearty and healthy items for yourself.

7. Farm Bowl

Whether you’re stopping by for an on-the-go juice, or grabbing an acai bowl with an old friend, Farm Bowl is the place to go.

Nestled in Homewood, this spot also serves delicious oatmeal, dragon fruit bowls and smoothies. It’s your best option to satisfy a sweet tooth but still make a healthy decision.

Real & Rosemary is one of my favorite spots around town. The selection of local veggies is top-notch and will be a go-to for fresh, healthy food upon your first visit.

I recommend the superfood salad to pretty much everyone I meet.
