New ghost kitchen operating out of Bayou on 8th

A brand-new ghost kitchen is now serving in Birmingham—and it’s bringing bold, comforting flavors straight to your door.

Urban Bites officially launched this month and is operating as a pop-up ghost kitchen out of Bayou on 8th. The concept focuses on hearty, crave-worthy breakfast and lunch favorites that are “big on flavor but easy on the wallet.”

Urban Bites + Bayou on 8th

Urban Bites operates out of Bayou on 8th, a West End favorite known for its New Orleans–style menu and full craft cocktail bar. Bayou on 8th also serves brunch on Sundays with classics like chicken and waffles, hash and eggs Benedict.

Urban Bites takes a different approach with juicy burgers and hot dogs to loaded baked potatoes, salads and soulful Southern staples like shrimp and grits.

Orders are available exclusively through DoorDash for both pickup and delivery. There are no walk-in or call-in orders at this time, making Urban Bites a true delivery-first concept designed for busy mornings and lunch breaks.

What is a ghost kitchen?

A ghost kitchen is a restaurant concept that operates without a traditional dining room.

Instead of dine-in service, food is prepared in a shared or off-site kitchen and delivered directly to customers through apps like DoorDash. This allows brands like Urban Bites to focus on food quality, speed and affordability and gives restaurants the chance to try many concepts and dishes at once.
