Trussville’s Steele Hall Brewing closing taproom on January 24

A beloved Birmingham-area brewing company is closing its taproom for good at the end of the month. Steele Hall Brewing, a locally-owned brewery located in downtown Trussville, announced today plans to close on Saturday, January 24.
Steele Hall Brewing’s taproom is closing

Located on the main strip in downtown Trussville, Steele Hall Brewing was founded in mid-2023 by Eric Mitchell and Scott Worthington, two passionate brewers who met while working at Heist Brewery in North Carolina. After moving back to the Birmingham area, the duo renovated the former Slag Heap Brewing space at 227 Main St. for their new project. The brewery offered a rotating draft menu as well as five “core” beers
- Bama Beer (Classic American Lager): An easy drinker brewed to rival all the macro domestics. The perfect segue beer from domestic to craft.
- Mala Chite (Wheat Ale Brewed w/ Lime): Everything you want from lime and nothing you don’t. High level drinkability and zest.
- Felice Birra (Italian Pilsner): A full-bodied clean, crisp hoppy pilsner. Perfect beer for the foodie and experimentalist alike.
- Cam Ellia (India Pale Ale): Proportionally hoppy, and scant on the bitter, this hazy beer is for IPA stans and newcomers alike.
- Hyper Scale (Sour Ale): A tropical escape right in our backyard. Tart, vibrant, and passionately brewed with passionfruit and dragonfruit.
The brewery recently opened a new golf simulator called The Cut, described as a, “state-of-the-art indoor golf simulator bar with an exciting food concept attached.”

The owners announced the news of Steele Hall Brewing’s closure on social media, stating:
“Oh the times we have had over the past three-ish years! We have so much to say at this moment, but first we want to say THANK YOU! Thank you to our loyal customers, our incredible staff and this city for allowing us to serve you and follow a dream. It is with gratitude and a heavy heart that we tell you Saturday, January 24 will be our taprooms last day of operation. We will have limited hours until then (Friday and Saturdays only 3:00-9:00) so please come out and have a few more cold snack with us, it sure would mean a lot! Again, thank you guys for everything! And don’t worry, your favorite Steele Hall beers will live on in the distribution world via contract brewing. Keep an eye out here for locations and availability.”
