A Birmingham local with experience in the wholesale wine business is sharing his wealth of knowledge with the Magic City through a new subscription service.

Founded by Jono Mason, Balance Wine had its soft opening Dec. 3 and is beginning to onboard customers.

The business’s focus is its subscription program, which involves Mason’s curated monthly selections centered around each customer’s personal tastes.

“Wine should be fun, not intimidating,” said Mason. “At Balance Wine, we help people find wines they
truly love—whether they’re exploring for the first time or have been collecting for years.”

Subscriptions are available for three-, six- or 12-month terms with pickup at the Balance Wine storefront in Pepper Place.

Balance Wine also offers a “concierge service,” which allows customers in need of wine recommendations a customized experience. This service is aimed at folks planning dinner parties, stocking their personal cellars, organizing corporate gifts or hosting special events like weddings. Mason is able to assist clients in which wines best fit their taste, budget, menu and occasion.

For now, business is limited to local pickup, but there may be a delivery option for the surrounding area in the future.

Wine subscription boxes start at $75 per month for an annual subscription. Options include:

  • Premium Old World — 2 bottles per month
  • Premium New World — 2 bottles per month
  • Value Old World — 3 bottles per month
  • Value New World — 3 bottles per month
  • Natural Package — 3 bottles per month
