New restaurant with New Orleans influence opening soon in Hoover

A new chef-driven restaurant is bringing a taste of New Orleans to Hoover! Located along Valleydale Road in the Southlake Village shopping center, toujours is set to celebrate its grand opening on Wednesday, December 31.
New restaurant, toujour’s, opening this week in Hoover
For chef and owner Daniel Mitchell, the name toujours holds a special meaning.
“For me, the word “always”, the inspiration behind my restaurant’s name, has been a guiding principle throughout my life. ‘Toujours’ means ‘always’ in French, and it has served as a constant reminder to keep moving toward my goals, whether that’s being a supportive father and husband, buying a home, nurturing friendships, leading by example, or running a marathon.”

A lifelong culinarian who has served as Executive Chef at local private clubs for the past twenty years, Chef Mitchell began his career in New Orleans, which he describes as “a city where cooking is woven into the fabric of everyday life.”
“[In New Orleans, the] community takes pride in supporting local chefs and restaurants over large chains.
Now that I’ve lived in Birmingham longer than I lived in New Orleans, Birmingham has become my home. My goal is to help grow our city’s culinary scene and foster the same sense of local support that New Orleans does so well.”

Located on Valleydale Road in Southlake Village, toujour’s is Chef & Owner Daniel Mitchell’s love letter to New Orleans and blends refined Southern flavors with French-inspired technique. Highlights of the new restaurant’s menu include:
- NOLA BBQ Shrimp: buttery veal reduction, garlic, lemon, rosemary, french bread
- Redfish Genevieve: crabmeat prentiss, stone ground grits, charred asparagus (GF)
- Seared Wild Salmon: saffron rice pilaf, haricots vert, dill beurre blanc (GF)
- Seared Sea Scallops: creamy leeks, stone ground grits, haricots verts, fried sweet potatoes
