Minor League Pickleball teams are coming to Birmingham

The Picklr, Birmingham’s premier indoor pickleball facility, officially announced its partnership with Major League Pickleball’s St. Louis Shock.

Through this partnership, the two organizations plan to develop Shock Minor League teams throughout the entire state of Alabama.

St. Louis Shock leadership and Birmingham community members gathered at a press conference today to hear all about the partnership.

The Picklr is the first-ever partner for the Shock, one of the most dynamic Major League pickleball teams, with four of the top 10 players in the world.

“We’re a small staff, and we’re looking at ways that we can find strategic partners to help us grow our Shock Minor League Program and pickleball in general.

We’ve partnered with the Alabama Indoor Pickleball LLC to develop Shock Minor League teams throughout the entire state to compete locally, regionally and nationally.”

The Picklr is a first-of-its-kind pickleball hub and since its opening in March 2025, it’s offered a great place to bond with friends, meet new ones and engage in friendly competition.

Plus, the facility is complete with:

  • 10 indoor courts, including 4 championship-sized courts
  • Pickleball Central Pro Shop
  • Community event space
