From sold-out arena shows to record-setting comedy specials, the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex (BJCC)—Birmingham’s biggest entertainment district—truly outdid itself this year.
With 2025 drawing to a close, here’s a look back at 13 record-setting events you may have missed—as well as a friendly reminder that 2026 is shaping up to be even bigger.
Here’s what you missed at the BJCC in 2025 👇
With more than 1.1 million visits this year, one thing is clear—the BJCC is a powerful economic and cultural engine that adds significant value to the Magic City.
“The BJCC is consistently a top destination for visitors in downtown Birmingham. We track visit trends across downtown regularly for our bi-annual Downtown Economic Vitality Reports, and we can often trace the through line from popular BJCC events to extra vibrancy downtown.
But the BJCC adds more to downtown than only visitor numbers – it brings culture and entertainment of all kinds, and it is a source of pride for our region.”
David Fleming, President and CEO of REV Birmingham
Sports 🏀

With venues like the modernized Legacy Arena and the new Protective Stadium, Birmingham is becoming a major hub for sports in the Southeast. In March, crowds filled BJCC venues to the rafters for the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship (March 22), Monster Jam (March 29), SEC Gymnastics Championship (March 22) and the NCAA Women’s Basketball Regional (March 28-31)—proving once and for all that Alabama can care about more than college football.
Entertainment 🎭

The BJCC proved its worth this year as a hub for family-friendly entertainment, kicking off 2025 with circus magic at The Greatest Show on Earth presented by Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey (Jan. 31–Feb. 2). In September, the national touring production of Wicked held a thrilling multi-week run at the BJCC Concert Hall, while YouTube stars Dude Perfect transformed Legacy Arena into a trick-shot showcase in July.
Did you know? On April 26, popular comedian Shane Gillis made BJCC history as the highest-selling comedy show in Legacy Arena’s 50-year history.
Music 🎤

With an artist lineup that looked like your coolest friend’s Spotify Wrapped playlist, the BJCC had a little something for everyone this year. Fans of Americana flocked to see Alison Krauss & Union Station (May 4), while Forrest Frank (April 12) and Brandon Lake (Nov. 6) demonstrated the growing influence of powerful, faith-filled performances. Not to be outdone, hip-hop pioneer Jeezy (July 18) gave fans a night to remember, while Chris Brown capped the year with a high-energy stadium show (Oct. 11) that could be seen (and heard) for miles.
If you think 2025 was fun, just wait to see what the BJCC has up its sleeve for 2026 👇
