Ever fallen down a Zillow rabbit hole and ended up gawking at a 15-bedroom mansion, wondering, who lives like this? This is that house.
Located on 27 acres in Shelby County’s Shoal Creek neighborhood, Chateau Montagel is sitting pretty on 54,000 square feet—add in its two guest homes and it’s more like 68,000.
Other standouts included:
- 22 bathrooms (I can’t even fully clean just one!)
- 25-seat movie theater
- 6-stable barn and carriage house + indoor/outdoor riding arena
- Multiple garages
- Wine cellar
The house was built in 1997 for $26 million and was auctioned for just under $4 million in 2003.
After being abandoned for roughly seven years, the house is officially off the market thanks to Steve and Connie Jacks of Birmingham real estate firm The Luxe Group who brokered the sale.

So who purchased the estate? The new owner of the keys is Sergel Kaminskiy, a San Diego-based entrepreneur and CEO and founder of the Kaminskiy Group.
According to the Birmingham Business Journal (BBJ), Kaminskiy immigrated to the U.S. from Siberia, Russia at the age of seven and is a real estate investor, home designer and remodeler.

What’s his plan for the new digs? Here’s what the BBJ found out:
Preserve the French château style—gold-leaf accents, frescoed ceilings + imported marble, and to add in State-of-the-art amenities designed for wellness + entertainment, including:
- Full gym with wrestling mats + Jiu Jitsu
- Golf simulation room
- Car showroom
- World-class biohacking facility with steam room, dry sauna, cold plunge, cryotherapy, massage space, IV stations + more
Wondering if the house is all for him, or rather a dreamy Airbnb? Here’s what he told the BBJ:
“This is going to be, at the very minimum, our second home, but … we want to host, obviously, family and friends. But then we have close connections—influential leaders, world-class athletes, CEOs, influencers, that will get an invite to the home. A lot of this is still fluid, but we see a lot of private parties and invitation-only events here. We want to create experiences that match the scale of the estate.”
