On Monday, Dec. 15, proposals to demolish five historic buildings in the Highland Park neighborhood were removed from the Birmingham Design Review Committee’s (DRC) Wednesday, Dec. 17 agenda.

The action to postpone consideration of these agenda items came shortly after the Highland Park Neighborhood Association distributed a newsletter to residents a petition opposing the project

They also included a link to the applicant’s proposed conceptual plan that was presented to the neighborhood’s historic advisory committee.

In the proposal by Robert Brown from Stone River Company, buildings at the following addresses would be considered for demolition.

  • 2310 Highland Ave. South
  • 2312 Highland Ave. South
  • 1024 24th St. South
  • 1051 24th St. South
  • 1054 24th St. South

In addition to demolition, the Design Review Committee was slated to consider a conceptual plan.
