Birmingham gas prices Thanksgiving 2025: Trends and costs

The average price for a gallon of gas this Thanksgiving week in the Birmingham Metro area is six cents less than it was a year ago, according to AAA Alabama,
As of November 23, 2025, the price for regular gas in Birmingham is $2.71 compared to $2.77 during the same week in 2024. Nationally, gas prices are a whopping 36 cents cheaper per gallon on average in the Magic City than it is nationally, which stands at $3.07.
In addition to the lower gas prices, AAA projects 81.8 million Americans will travel at least 50 miles from home over the Thanksgiving holiday period between Tuesday, November 25 to Monday, December 1.
Gas prices are about the same in the Birmingham Metro
Gas prices in the Birmingham metro area – county by county – are about the same throughout the region, ranging from $2.68 to $2.72.
Here is how much the five metro counties pay on average for a gallon of gas, according to AAA:
- Blount County — $2.68
- Jefferson County — $2.72
- Shelby County — $2.71
- Walker County — $2.69
- St. Clair County — $2.68
The highest gas price in Alabama is Perry County at $3.00, while the lowest is Mobile County at $2.67.
