Looking for a quicker and smoother ride to the Pinnacle Shopping Center and all the restaurants off I-459?

The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) announced today it is opening a new third lane on I-59 southbound between Chalkville Mountain Road and I-459 on Friday, November 21, 2025.

The additional lane should reduce congestion in the area.

Thanks to Wiregrass Construction Co. finishing up a week early on the eight month project, the new wider road will be available for Thanksgiving Week shoppers.

More work on I-59

According to ALDOT, following Friday’s opening of the newly built southbound lanes, work will transition to the northbound side, so expect some slowdowns before the Trussville exits.
