Traveling into Birmingham from Anniston or Atlanta on I-20 this week? Prepare for some delays.

Beginning on Tuesday evening, November 18th, the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is shifting I-20 resurfacing work from daytime to overnight on the westbound lanes, between Milepost 157 and Milepost 164 (Coosa River Bridge).

Expect one to two lanes to be closed.

This means instead of paving this busy and vital stretch of I-20 daily between 8:00AM to 5:00PM, ALDOT’s crews will now carry out the work from 7:00PM to 5:00AM on Tuesday-Thursday nights this week.

ALDOT: Use alternate routes

Motorists are requested to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area.
