Say hello to the newest faces of Bham Now!
We’re excited to welcome two fantastic new additions: Account Executive Traci Owen and Managing Editor of Social Media Chris Michel. We’re thrilled to have them on board, and we can’t wait for you to get to know them.
Meet Chris Michel | Managing Editor, Social Media
- Hometown: Born in Akron, Ohio—but with stops in Columbus, Syracuse, Brooklyn, Vermont, Georgia (the country!) and Pennsylvania—Chris says Birmingham is his favorite place he’s lived yet.
- Education & Career: With an MFA in Poetry, an MA in English and a Fulbright scholarship, Chris has built an impressive editorial career at Bon Appetit, Runner’s World, Cooking Light, The Kitchn, Country Living + more. (He also has a lot of books at home… Like, a lot.)
- Hobbies: Reading (he practically lives at the Jefferson County library), cooking, running, working out + spending time with his two daughters, Aki (15) and Lydia (10).
- What he loves most about the job: “I love this team! Everyone’s so collaborative and friendly—I’m grateful to be part of it.”
- What he loves most about Birmingham: Big-city perks like the zoo, botanical gardens, concert venues and stadiums, all with a small-town feel.
- Favorite Birmingham restaurant: Hard to choose, but if he must: Current Charcoal Grill
Meet Traci Owen | Account Executive
- Hometown: Birmingham, AL
- Education & Career: A proud UAB grad, Traci brings more than 15 years of experience in media sales to the team!
- Hobbies: Hiking, biking, paddle boarding, kayaking, working out, seeing live music + traveling
- What she loves most about the job: “Meeting new, friendly people and helping them reach their goals.”
- What she loves most about Birmingham: Easy access to everything—hiking trails, lakes, mountains and even the beach. Plus, she says the food and live music scene are absolutely amazing!
- Favorite Birmingham restaurants: Le Fresca, Automatic Seafood & Oysters, Martin’s Bar-B-Que and Fish Market.
