11 Christmas tree lightings to see in and around Birmingham

It is hard to believe the first Christmas tree lighting in the Birmingham metro area begins Friday, Nov. 14 in Mountain Brook. 

Below is a list of some of our favorite Christmas tree lighting events throughout the area. Check them out!

1. Lane Parke “All is Bright” Christmas Tree Lighting in Mountain Brook Village

Lane Parke is hosting their annual tree lighting event between 6-8PM. There will be children activities, pop-ups and visit by Santa at 7:30PM.

  • When: Friday, Nov. 14 from 6-8PM (tree lighting is at 7:30)
  • Where: Corner of Jemison Lane and Rele Street

2. Leeds Downtown Christmas Tree Lighting

Take a short trip to Leeds for their Christmas tree lighting and celebration this year. You can enjoy all of the festivities at the tree lighting and maybe some holiday shopping while you’re at it!

3. Trussville Community Caroling and Tree Lighting Ceremony

Trussville has one of the largest live Christmas tree in the Birmingham Metro area on the Mall. Our favorite part of this event — the caroling.

4. Vestavia Hills Tree Lighting Festival

In conjunction with Vestavia’s special Holiday in the Hills event, the annual tree lighting will be held at City Hall.

5. Regions Bank “Christmas Tree Lighting” Downtown Building

A tradition since the 1970s, Regions Bank lights their headquarters downtown with displays of a Christmas tree, wreath and stocking. The bank is holding a “flip the switch” party for the community the day after Thanksgiving. Also be sure to check out the live entertainment and food trucks.

  • When: Friday, Nov. 28 at 5PM
  • Where: Corner of 5th Avenue and 20th Street North

6. Bessemer Christmas Tree Lighting

The “Marvel City” is holding their annual Christmas tree lighting on a Sunday afternoon downtown. Come at 4PM for some giveaways and raffles.

  • When: Sunday, Nov. 30 at 5PM
  • Where: Debardeleben Park

7. Hoover Christmas Tree Lighting

To kick the holiday off, Hoover is giving their tree lighting a little something extra with a special entrance by Santa. Be sure to go check it out along with their other holiday goodies this year.

8. Rocket Around the Christmas Tree Trail in Gardendale

Gardendale’s biggest, most festive event is almost here. The Rocket Around the Christmas Tree Trail supports the Dick Lee Memorial Scholarship at Gardendale High School. Stop by, see over 100 Christmas trees and indulge in a jolly tradition.

9. Irondale “Believes”  Parade and Tree Lighting

Irondale doubles up their Christmas Lighting with their annual parade.

10. Downtown Birmingham Tree Lighting

If there’s anywhere to kick off the holidays Birmingham style, this is it. This is a great event for the whole family to enjoy. With food trucks, face painting, “Candy Lane” and the lighting of the Christmas tree, it’s guaranteed holiday fun for everyone.

11. Homewood’s Lighting of the Star and Christmas Parade

One of our favorite annual traditions is the lighting of the Homewood Star and the Christmas tree, followed by a Christmas parade
