Andrews Sports Medicine plans for $110M center at Brookwood Village
Reading time: 2 minutes

At the beginning of this month, we told you about Andrew Sports Medicine subleasing Brookwood Village’s former Belk location. As the most recent update, Andrews Sports Medicine is starting pre-construction planning for a $110 million, two-story center, according to the BBJ.
In November 2024, Andrews Sports Medicine announced their intention to transform the space into a roughly 135,000-square-foot medicine and orthopedic center. Andrews Sports Medicine is a world-renowned non-profit clinic specializing in sports medicine and orthopaedic patient care, research, education and injury prevention.
In May this year, Homewood City Council unanimously approved the Andrews Sports Medicine plan in hopes that the project would encourage future investment and development in the area.

Now, Andrews Sports Medicine can start pre-construction planning for a $110 million, two-story center.
The plan right now (pending approvals) is for the first floor to be a 55-square-foot clinic, and the second floor to house a 65,000-square-foot ambulatory orthopedic surgery center.
Currently located in the OrthoSports Tower at UAB St. Vincent’s, the move to Brookwood Village will roughly double Andrews Sports Medicine and allow them to integrate new patient services like:
- A pharmacy
- MRI scans
- Occupational + physical therapy
- Procedure rooms
- + more
“We are sitting across from the street from a big, empty hulk of a building that has been empty for five or six years at this point.
We hear from our constituents every day for something to happen there; we love Andrews Sports Medicine—they’re a great local organization and we’re thrilled to have them in Homewood.”
Jennifer Andress, Ward 5 Representative, City of Homewood, May 2025
