Looking to get into the holiday spirit and give back while doing it? Here’s your chance! Santa Claus is coming to town—and this time, he’s helping support families across Alabama through Children’s Harbor.
Mark your calendars for the third annual Snapshots with Santa fundraiser, hosted by the Children’s Harbor Junior Board, and keep reading to see how your picture supports local families of seriously ill children.
Capture the magic of Christmas + help a good cause

Bring your kids, your friends and even your pets to snap a photo with Santa and Mrs. Claus. This festive, family-friendly morning is filled with holiday cheer, crafts for the little ones and the chance to write letters to Santa himself!
There’s no cost to take your photo, though donations are encouraged.
Every dollar raised goes directly to Children’s Harbor’s Family Emergency Assistance Fund, which provides meals, essential household items and gifts to families of seriously ill children.
In 2024 alone, the fund distributed over $162,000 to families in need—helping them find comfort and stability during life’s toughest moments.
Whether you’re hunting for the perfect Christmas card photo or just want a fun, feel-good way to kick off the season, this is it. And the best part? You’ll be supporting a cause that makes a real difference for families across Alabama.
Children’s Harbor helps families across Alabama

Children’s Harbor is a nonprofit organization that has been serving families of children facing serious health challenges since 1989. Their mission is to strengthen families through refuge, respite, and resources all offered completely free of charge.
They support families in a variety of ways:
- Snapshots with Santa, which raises funds for the Family Emergency Assistance Fund.
- Children’s Harbor’s Treasures and Thrift Store at Lake Martin, which provides critical support for the nonprofit’s programs.
- Champions for Our Children, where kids meet the UAB football players representing them, seeing their names on the backs of the players’ jerseys
At The Harbor Family Center inside Children’s of Alabama, families can access counseling, play areas, rest spaces, laundry facilities and even a salon—small comforts that mean so much during long hospital stays.
The nonprofit also operates a 66-acre retreat on Lake Martin, where families can relax, reconnect and meet others facing similar challenges.
The retreat features:
- Inclusive playground
- Zero-entry swimming pools
- Wheelchair-accessible treehouse
- Mini golf
- Basketball + volleyball courts
- Canoeing
- Activity rooms
AND, all of these services are free to the families they serve.
