Bundle up Birmingham! Wind chill expected to drop well below freezing late Sunday night

Bundle up Birmingham! Abnormally frigid weather is moving into The Magic City beginning late Sunday evening till Tuesday.Β 

According to the U.S. National Weather Service (NWS) Birmingham Office wind chill values in the Birmingham metro area will reach 18-19 degrees by early Monday morning. On Tuesday morning, NWS expects the winds to decrease, but the temps to fall to about 23 degrees.

Here is what to expect according to the NWS Birmingham Office:

The sudden drop in temps is serious enough for the city of Birmingham to open organize the opening of several warming stations around town.

Back to normal later in the week

The good news, we should be back to normal by Tuesday afternoon and later in the week. In fact, the forecast temps for Wednesday and the rest of the week is upper 60s and low 70s.
