Veterans Day deals 2025: Groceries, shopping, restaurants + more

Veterans Day is quickly approaching (Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2025!), which means there are plenty of exciting and reflective events to look forward to.
There are also many deals at stores and restaurants in the Birmingham area to take advantage of. Here is a small selection of our favorites.
The deals are so abundant that it is impossible to list them all, so remember to check with your favorite stops to see if they have any Veterans Day promotions going on!

Shopping + services
Publix

Who doesn’t love cheap groceries? On Veterans Day, Publix is offering veterans and active military personnel 10% off their purchase. This deal excludes prescriptions, alcohol, tobacco, gift cards, lottery tickets, postage stamps, and money services.

Target

Time to plan your next Target run. Active duty military, veterans and their immediate family members can receive 10% off two storewide purchases by verifying their military status on Target’s website. The deal will appear in the Target Circle app after verification, where it can be applied to your next purchase.

- How to redeem: Fill out the military discount form through your Target account on their website, then use the Target Circle app to apply the discounts.
New Day Car Wash

Stop putting off that next car wash: New Day Car Wash has veterans, active duty, reserve and separated military members covered. On Veterans Day, enjoy a free Signature Wash, which has a $30 value.

Great Clips

Veterans and active service members can visit any Great Clips location on Veterans Day and get a free haircut or a free haircut card to use at a later date.
Non-military customers who get a haircut at Great Clips on Veterans Day will also receive a free haircut card that they can use to pay-it-forward to an active service member or veteran in their life as a token of thanks and appreciation. The cards can be redeemed through December 5, 2025.

Activities
Birmingham Zoo

Most kids are out of school on Veterans Day, so it is the perfect time to hit the zoo for a fun family day. All veterans, active military and retired military PLUS up to five dependents will receive FREE admission to the zoo with valid military ID. All other visitors will receive $5 off admission.

Fun City Adventure Park

Another option for kids and families: Head to Fun City Adventure Park to bounce, climb and play all day long. The indoor park has extended their hours for Veterans Day and is offering a 10% discount on admission for veterans and their children.

Vulcan Park and Museum

Gorgeous views of Birmingham and everyone’s favorite Birmingham statue… Sounds like the perfect way to spend Veterans Day in our magical city. Vulcan Park and Museum honors all who have served and their families with free admission.

Birmingham Botanical Gardens

Although admission is always free, enjoy a relaxing stroll around the gardens to reflect on the impact of veterans in our country and make memories with family.

The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill

Enjoy a “Gyro for Our Heroes” at this Greek chain with a Vestavia Hills location. This deal is an all-day promo that gives vets 25% off all gyros and gyro combo meals when dining in.

What’s closed on Veterans Day in Birmingham?

Most businesses remain open on Veterans Day, but there are a few exceptions.
Veterans Day is a federal holiday, so many government entities will be closed:
- USPS — Mail will NOT be delivered except priority mail
- Jefferson County + Shelby County offices and services — emergency services will remain in operation
- City, state + federal offices and services — including public works, schools, court houses and libraries
- Birmingham VA Health Care System — emergency department remains open
Other closed businesses and services in the area include:
- Birmingham Museum of Art
- Most banks
