Southside has a new fitness center specializing in everything from personal training and group fitness to martial arts.

Five Points Fitness, located at 2009 15th Ave. South in the rear of the former Zydeco building, opened Saturday, Nov. 1.

Folks who are interested in getting active at the new gym can take advantage of their “Founding Membership” deal until Friday, Nov. 14. That membership includes:

  • Discounted rates locked in for life
  • Full-body tracking with their InBody Scanner
  • Early access to classes and personal training availability
  • Recognition as one of the original members of Five Points Fitness

The trainers are starting off in full swing — their first week in business has already been filled with classes in group fitness and Brazilian jiu jitsu. The full Five Points Fitness schedule of classes can be found on their website, which you can tap here to view.

Lead Trainer Josiah Shibley is the general manager and focuses on helping busy professionals achieve results through strategic strength training, tailored bodybuilding programs and evidence-based nutritional guidance, the gym posted on social media this week.

“With a deep understanding of the discipline required to manage Type-1 diabetes, I bring a focused, no-excuses approach to health and fitness. My coaching style is results-driven and customized to fit demanding schedules, empowering clients to reach peak performance while maintaining balance and sustainability in their everyday lives.”

As of Thursday, Nov. 6, Five Points Fitness is advertising that new customers can take advantage of one free class as a trial. Contact them via call or text at 205-516-7068, email them at contact@fivepointsfit.com, message them on Facebook or arrive 15 minutes early to the class to redeem the free trial.

The gym is also already getting involved in their community. Ahead of their opening date, Five Points Fitness opened their doors to the firemen fighting the blaze from the Halloween fire, giving them a space to rest and free showers.
