Two lanes on a 4-mile strip of U.S. Highway 280 will be closed throughout November, the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) announced last week.

For the next month, the right lanes of 280 Eastbound and Westbound will be closed between 7PM and 6AM on Sunday through Thursday nights for widening. Construction started Sunday, Nov. 2.

The closures will be between Milepost 1.39 — approximately located at Shades Creek Parkway — and Milepost 4.51 — just past Interstate 459 at about Colonnade Drive.

ALDOT recommends commuters use alternate routes, adjust arrival and departure times, observe work zone speed limits and to use extreme caution while traveling.
