A new “kids’ play village” is opening soon in downtown Birmingham! Located on historic Morris Avenue, Burrrow & Bloom is a creative community space where kids can play “pretend” and explore their creative side while parents and caregivers relax just a few steps away.

We met with owners Sydney and Patrick Foote to learn more about Burrow & Bloom and its grand opening celebration on Saturday, November 8.

Created by husband-and-wife duo Sydney and Patrick Foote, Burrow & Bloom is an elegant new event venue in the former Heidi Elnora Atelier bridal boutique space at 2024 Morris Ave.

While the second floor of Burrow & Bloom is a dedicated event space perfect for weddings and other gatherings, the main floor is home to a family-friendly “kids’ village” where children can play, imagine and explore while parents and caregivers rest nearby.

“Birmingham has a lot of big box play areas for kids, but they can be very overstimulating for both the parent and the children. We wanted to create something different: a calm, intentionally-designed space where kids can grow and develop.”

What to expect inside Burrow & Bloom’s kids’ play village

Custom-built by hand by Patrick and Sydney, the kids’ play village is a kid-sized Main Street—complete with a local business, schoolhouse, reading corner and much more.

Inside, you’ll find:

  • A kid-sized playhouse with a child-friendly kitchen + dining space.
  • A schoolroom lined with educational posters, toys + coloring books.
  • A “local business” space, complete with handmade felt bakery items, a cash register + chef aprons.
  • A relaxing reading nook

“We’ve tested the kids’ play village with our own children, and it’s so fun to see them immerse themselves into this little world. As soon as they step onto that carpet, all of the sudden they are cooking dinner for the family or running the bakery.”

But Burrow & Bloom isn’t just for kids—parents and caregivers are invited, too!

“We want Burrow & Bloom to be as comfortable and cozy for the parents as possible. Parents can play with their children in the village or relax and sip coffee while trusting that their kids are in a fun, safe environment.”

Patrick Foote, Co-Owner, Burrow & Bloom

Burrow & Bloom comes complete with a coffee station, spaces where parents can take meetings and catch up with friends, as well as a fully stocked diaper changing station with private space for nursing mothers.
