This year, Veterans Day falls on Tuesday, Nov. 11, and there are plenty of ways to celebrate and honor our veterans in the Birmingham area.

Step Stone Dedication Ceremony

When: Sunday, Nov. 2
Where: 500 Liberty Pkwy in Vestavia Hills

John L. Carroll Wills for Heroes Clinic

When: Wednesday, Nov. 5 from 9AM to 1PM

Presented by Volunteer Lawyers Birmingham and the Birmingham Bar Association’s Birmingham Connection Committee, this clinic helps veterans prepare a simple will, power of attorney forms and an advance directive. Preregistration and an appointment are required.

Spain Park High School Veterans Day Celebration

When: Thursday, Nov. 6 at 6:30PM

Veterans Day Outdoor Wellness with the VA

When: Friday, Nov. 7 from 9:30 to 11:30AM

Head to the Norwood Community Center for the Birmingham VA Health Care System’s annual tree planting event. Gloves and tools will be provided. Long pants and closed toe shoes recommended. There will also be yoga and forest bathing. 
Open to all veterans, their families and friends.

9th Annual Clutch Band Veterans Event

When: Friday, Nov. 7 at 6PM
Where: 1811 11th Ave N
Cost: Free (ticket required)

Join the Official Clutch Band for their 9th Annual Veterans Event at VFW Post 668. Enjoy live music, dinner and more. 

UAB Veterans Day 5K

When: Saturday, Nov. 8 at 8AM
Where: 1600 1st Ave S
Cost: 1-mile fun run $20, 5K run/walk starts at $30

Head to Railroad Park for the 3rd Annual UAB Veterans Day 5K. Since its launch in 2023, it has raised more than $20,000 and brought together 1,500 participants and 200 volunteers. Raised funds support UAB veteran and dependent students. All 5K participants receive a race shirt and finisher metal. Runners, walkers, ruckers, strollers or wheelchair racers are all welcome. Those who wish to volunteer can find more info on the registration website. 

American Legion Post 347 Veterans Day Celebration

When: Saturday, Nov. 8 starting at 2PM
Where: 5021 Gary Ave in Fairfield

Pleasant View Missionary Baptist Church Veterans Day Program

VA Health Care System Veterans Pinning Ceremony

Crumbey Bethel P.B. Church in Fairfield will host a Veterans Pinning Ceremony, honoring the brave men and women who have served the U.S. All veterans — regardless of branch or era of service — are welcome. RSVP appreciated. 

City of Vestavia Hills Salute to Veterans Day

When: Monday, Nov. 10 at noon to 5PM
Where: 1090 Montgomery Hwy in Vestavia Hills

2025 National Veterans Day Banquet

When: Monday, Nov. 10, reception at 5PM, dinner at 6PM
Where: 950 22nd St N

Coinciding with the national parade is the awards banquet, which is open to the public with the purchase of tickets, which are limited. The keynote speaker will be Captain Russ “Boss” Bartlett, a retired member of the U.S. Navy and Blue Angel Pilot. 

Veteran’s Day Martial Arts Camp

When: Tuesday, Nov. 11 at 7:30AM to 5PM
Where: 631 Montgomery Hwy in Vestavia Hills

76th National Veteran’s Day Parade

When: Tuesday, Nov. 11 from 1:30to 4:30PM (rain or shine)

Veterans Appreciation Dinner at Hoover Public Library

New Directions Veterans Choir

When: Thursday, Nov. 20 and Friday, Nov. 21 from 7 to 9PM

Founded by former homeless Marine, George Hill, New Directions Veterans Choir is an award-winning acappella group that sings renditions of pop, doo-wop, soul, gospel and Great American Songbook standards. New Directions Veterans Choir landed their big break on NBC’s America’s Got Talent and has since performed on The Tonight Show and for members of the United States Congress spreading their message of love, hope and redemption.
