Outback Steakhouse closed two Birmingham area locations this week in Midtown Birmingham and on Highway 280 in Inverness.

Below are the addresses of each franchise:

Only 18 months

The shuttering of the Midtown Birmingham location was especially surprising for Magic City residents since the downtown restaurant opened only 18 months ago in March 2024.

Adding to the confusion about the closure, less than two weeks ago, the staff published this positive video about the Midtown location on Facebook.

This is the second restaurant to close on the Birmingham Green (nickname for 20th Street), this month. Pies and Pints shut down after serving downtown residents for almost a decade.

The news is not all gloomy locally for the Aussie themed steakhouse and its iconic Bloomin’ Onion.

Earlier this year, a new Outback opened in Pell City.
