There’s something about fall in Birmingham that calls for cozy moments and small adventures—especially in areas like Southside that transform into a haven of magical autumn charm.

We recently spent a day wandering through this beloved neighborhood, and couldn’t resist sharing a few of our favorite spots that make this exciting season so special.

Read on for where we went, what we’re still dreaming about—like a warm Pumpkin-Chata—and where to live just steps from it all.

1. Enjoy a seasonal drink at Bandido Coffee Parlor

Nothing says fall like a warm cup of coffee in your hands, so we kicked off our morning with a visit to Bandido Coffee Parlor.

To rev up the fall vibes, we ordered two Pumpkin-Chatas—a seasonal special made of housemade pumpkin spice, horchata and espresso. One taste and you’ll officially fall into fall.

2. Take a stroll through Caldwell Park

After fueling up, we headed to Caldwell Park for a peaceful walk. Trees begin to burst with color this time of year, and the crunch of leaves under your feet is next-level satisfying.

Walking here isn’t just about getting your daily steps in, it’s a place that offers a seasonal creative boost. Whether you’re a writer, a photographer or video creator, you’ll find inspiration through fresh air, colorful scenery and the many locals and pups that pass by.

3. Savor a warm meal at Surin West

When fall temps drop and you crave a comforting meal, Surin West is a must. Locals love the coconut soup, which is so rich and creamy it feels like a soothing hug.

If you choose to eat inside, you’ll enjoy a quaint, cozy atmosphere. But if a comfy couch and blanket are calling your name, pickup orders taste just as delicious from a takeout container.

4. Find fall treasures at Books, Beans and Candles

Fall is a fun time to discover fresh finds, whether it’s a scented candle or a new book to curl up with. Books, Beans and Candles perfectly mixes witchy vibes with enchanting books, brews and a touch of wonder.

5. Indulge in a dreamy dessert or pastry at Birmingham Breadworks

No fall outing is complete without dessert, and Birmingham Breadworks won’t disappoint. We ordered a bag full of fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies, but there are plenty of other options like flaky pastries and mouthwatering cinnamon rolls.
