A fall morning calls for a cozy seasonal drink in Birmingham. (Callie Morrison / Bham Now)

Call me dramatic, but the crisp fall air every morning practically forces me to get out and try a caramel apple or pumpkin spiced latte.

If you’re like me and also have zero self-control, here’s a roundup of 10 Greater Birmingham coffee shops and what you should order off their fall menu.

June Coffee Co.

Someone from the Bham Now office makes a June Coffee run at least once a week (it’s usually me). Now that the fall menu is out… good luck getting me out of there.

Cala Coffee

Cala Coffee wins my award for “Most Creative Seasonal Menu Items.” The cute and cozy shops in downtown Bham and Vestavia Hills pair perfectly with a warm (or iced) latte in hand.

The Red Cat Coffee House

Red Cat has specialty lattes that are the perfect blend of sweet and refreshing without masking the flavor of the coffee.

Not coffee, but the fall turkey and Swiss sandwich is my favorite in all of Birmingham! And it goes great with an apple cider latte.

Caveat Coffee

Caveat Coffee is one of my favorite places to catch up with a friend, and I think they have one of the creamiest lattes in Birmingham.

Maple Avenue Coffee House

I have yet to try Maple Avenue, but I’ve heard rave reviews—especially about their cozy seasonal drinks.

Santos Coffee

Santos’ many locations across Birmingham give you ample opportunity to find your favorite spot and order. Coffee aside, you should order the crepes.

Baba Java

That’s me! With my Baba Java Coffee (Callie Morrison / Bham Now)

Baba Java is another locally-owned shop with a few locations across Greater Birmingham. The Camel Latte is my favorite, but the fall menu is still on my must-try list.

Whammy Coffee

Whammy is always bustling every time I go in there, even months after its opening. If you haven’t tried it yet… you need to join in on the party! Get the Triple B—bourbon and brown butter—and thank me later.

Dolly’s Cafe

Dolly’s Cafe is a cute little walk-up coffee and sandwich shop in Hueytown. I haven’t tried it, but other team members did and said it was a hit!

  • Our pick: Cinnamon Roll latte
  • Location: 2718 19th St N
  • Hours: Monday-Friday: 7AM-5PM | Saturday 8AM-4PM | Closed Sunday

Bandido Coffee Co.

The vibe and the menu at Bandido in Five Points South is inspired by Latin culture. Owner Raul Chavez learned from his operating manager, Oscar Alcantar—who gained experience working at Seeds, Cala Coffee, Revalator and O’Henry’s.
