Birmingham-native Jazz McKenzie steals the show in another round of The Voice
Reading time: 3 minutes

About a month after her blind audition on The Voice, Jasmine “Jazz” McKenzie returned to the stage Monday, Oct. 13 for the next stage of the competition. The Birmingham native has proven she is in it to win it.
Jazz’s journey so far
McKenzie was among the first contestants to audition for season 28 of The Voice, and she turned all four chairs — coaches this season are Michael Bublé, Niall Horan, Reba McEntire and Snoop Dogg — and grabbed a spot on Bublé’s team.
Her rendition of “What’s Love Got to Do With It” by Tina Turner set her apart from the get-go, and she prepared to move on to the next stage: the “Battles.”
Battling it out

During the battle stage, two contestants duke it out in a duet performance, and only one gets to proceed. Usually, the coaches choose the pairings, but this season, the artists chose their partners and their coaches got to choose the song.
McKenzie battled one of her fellow Bublé artists, Trinity, in a duet performance of Jamiroquai’s “Virtual Insanity.”
The two of them put on a show-stopping performance, and though the coaches acknowledged that it was a very close call, McKenzie was “officially” chosen to continue.
“Y’all took that man’s song and put some herbs and spices… this is two four-chair turns… great showmanship.”
Snoop Dogg
Judges also get one “steal” and one “save” they can use to save a contestant from elimination, and Bublé used his to save Trinity — the other three coaches attempted to steal her to no avail.
“You two just brought a different league … these two cannot leave this competition.”
Niall Horan

When to catch Jazz next

Battles are still airing, so there is some time before we get to see McKenzie on screen again.
The next round after battles will be knockouts. Artists are once again paired head-to-head, but they select their own songs to perform individually, and coaches will choose one winner of each pair. After that, just four artists per team will move on to the playoffs.
McKenzie’s next appearance has not been publicly announced, but the knockouts begin during the last episode of the battles, which airs Monday, Oct. 27.
