30 key indicators – Birmingham 1st in auto repairs

WalletHub used 30 key indicators in their effort to rank the 100 largest metro areas in the U.S. Some of the categories included:

  • Average gas prices
  • Annual hours in traffic congestion per auto commuter
  • Auto-repair shops per capita
  • Accident likelihood in city
  • Car theft rate
  • Parking rates

Among the items that propelled Birmingham to the top of the national ranking was “cost of auto ownership and maintenance.”  We placed fourth nationally on the list.

Birmingham also topped the national list for most auto-repair shops per capita.
