Two longtime restaurants located in Downtown Montevallo will be closing their doors, according to the Shelby County Reporter.

El Agave Bar & Grill and KFC, located on opposite ends of Main Street, will both be closed by next week.

Farewell to 2 local staples

El Agave Bar & Grill at 628 Main Street was open for 16 years at the time of its closure. The restaurant was especially popular with University of Montevallo students, where they could use their meal card or “Falcon Flex points.”

The KFC in Downtown Montevallo at 950 Main Street will close on Wednesday, October 15.

While the closure of two downtown restaurants is a loss for the community, it’s also gaining new business like the Cobblestone Inn & Suites which broke ground on Main Street last month.
