After a five-day maintenance project, the bridge over the Coosa River in Riverside is back open.

Fixing 62 year-old I-20 bridge

As reported by Bham Now last month, starting last Thursday, October 2, Alabama Department of Transportation crews alternated lane closures on the span to replace finger joints and the surrounding concrete on the 62-year-old bridge.

The work caused heavy delays on I-20, the primary road connecting Atlanta to Birmingham.

In addition to the opening, the repairs on the bridge was finished two days ahead of schedule according to ALDOT.
