As part of a renovation of the Hilton Birmingham Downtown at UAB, the hotel has unveiled a fresh, rebranded restaurant: Blazer’s Grill located on the corner of University Boulevard and 20th Street South.

Introducing Blazer’s Grill

In a recent social media post, the Hilton Birmingham Downtown at UAB announced the new eatery in the former home of Lab Bar and Kitchen.

The new concept is spearheaded by head chef Bryan Williams, who has more than 20 years of experience in everything from Asian to Southern to French cuisines.

Blazer’s Grill will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner (plus late-night bar snacks!) You can expect a variety of Sicilian-style pizzas, handhelds, soups and salads including plenty of vegan and vegetarian options.

Here’s a look at some menu highlights:

Hot Honey Pepperoni Pizza—White base, pepperoni, hot honey, cherry peppers
Blazer Smash Burger—Pepperjack, fried jalapeños, habanero blazer sauce, sriracha bacon
Grilled Chicken Pasta—Grilled chicken, Conecuh sausage, spinach, grape tomatoes, mushrooms, herb butter
Smoked Pork or Chicken Tinga Empanadas—Cilantro-jicama slaw, fresh salsa + sour cream

Long-time landmark in Downtown Birmingham

Fun fact: the Hilton Birmingham Downtown at UAB has actually been in operation since 1973—more than 50 years!

Albeit, it wasn’t always a Hilton. It was originally the Kahler Plaza Hotel, later the Plaza Hotel South, Birmingham Hilton Hotel, Radisson Hotel of Birmingham and Doubletree Hotel Birmingham according to Bham Wiki.
