Are you curious about what it’s like to live in Highland Park? If so, you’re in luck—”It’s Nice to Have You in Highland Park” is back for its second year! Held on Sunday, October 19, this “open neighborhood” porch crawl will feature live music, light refreshments, a historical scavenger hunt and more while moseying through participating businesses, porches and yards in Highland Park.
It’s Nice to Have You in Highland Park 2025 kicks off Sunday, October 19

Last year, the Highland Park Neighborhood Association held its first “open neighborhood,” partnering with local nonprofits, businesses and neighbors to produce a fun, family-friendly event that celebrates Highland Park.
Not familiar with Highland Park? Located at the base of Red Mountain, Highland Park is a densely populated historic neighborhood dating back to the turn of the 20th century. Within the neighborhood, you’ll find beloved local businesses like Rojo and O’Henry’s Coffee, charming historic homes and three peaceful urban parks:
- Rhodes Park (2800 Highland Ave)
- Caldwell Park (2500 Highland Ave)
- Rushton Park (3000 Highland Ave)

On Sunday, October 19, the Highland Park Neighborhood Association invites you to the 2nd annual “It’s Nice to Have You in Highland Park.”
This year, participating locations include:
- A) Clubhouse on Highland (2908 Highland Ave)
- B) Donnelly House (2838 Highland Ave)
- C) Jordan House (2834 Highland Ave)
- D) Shook House (1120 28th Pl S)
- E) Harris and Warner Houses aka “Sister Houses” (2731 Highland Ave)
- F) Enslen House / Snable Law Firm (2737 Highland Ave)
- G) Highland Terrace Condos (2819 Highland Ave)
- H) Birmingham Historical Society (2827 Highland Ave)
- I) Greenbriar at the Altamont (2831 Highland Ave)
- I) Alabama Audubon (2835 Highland Ave)
- J) O’Henry’s Coffee (2915 Highland Ave)
- K) Rojo After-Party (2921 Highland Ave)
Tip: Although you can visit the stops in any order, the Highland Park Neighborhood Association recommends visitors start at the Birmingham Historical Society (2827 Highland Ave) to pick up a Highland Heritage Hunt scavenger hunt card.
