King Charles III highlighted Birmingham during his State Dinner remarks held in honor of President Donald Trump and First Lady Melanie Trump this week.

Below is an excerpt from the King’s speech mentioning the Magic City’s connection with Birmingham, England.

“Mr. President, from York to New York, from Birmingham, England to Birmingham, Alabama, we are united by a common language and shared heritage. The many 1000s of people from each of our countries who have made the other their home have enriched our societies immeasurably, a fact that gives me the greatest pride.”

Worthy for a king!

In a post about the King’s Birmingham shoutout, Governor Kay Ivey declared… Alabama is truly worthy for a king!

Bham AL / Bham England connection

This isn’t the first time in 2025 the two Birmingham cities have been linked. In February, the Tom Brady backed Birmingham City FC forged a partnership with the Greater Birmingham Convention & Visitors Bureau (GBCVB).

Perhaps King Charles can encourage a friendly to be played at Protective Stadium between Birmingham City and Birmingham Legion FC!
