City of Montevallo breaks ground on new hotel on Main Street
Reading time: 2 minutes

Pack your overnight bag—the Montevallo is getting a new hotel! Cobblestone Inn & Suites officially broke ground on Thursday, September 18 on its newest Alabama location, and it’s right on Main Street, just steps from the University of Montevallo (UM).
Why is this such big news?
If you’ve ever spent time in Montevallo, you know it’s mostly a drive-through or spend-the-day-and-go-home type city due to its quaint (and charming!) vibes. But according to Montevallo Main Street Executive Director Courtney Bennett, the town sees at least 200,000 visitors each year. With numbers like that, a hotel is a must. It’s also a way for the city to boost its growth.
As a former UM alum, I envy current students who can actually have friends and family visit without being squished in their dorm room or sent to another town to stay.
