Birmingham Youth Choir eliminated from America’s Got Talent after semifinals
Reading time: 3 minutes

After a triumphant and inspiring run, the Birmingham Youth & Young Adult Fellowship Choir has been eliminated from America’s Got Talent.
The choir performed Alicia Key’s “No One” for Tuesday night’s semifinals competition against 10 other acts, and just 6 were able to move on.
“We wanna bring a win home so bad,” one member of the choir said during a clip Wednesday night before the results were announced.

Host Terry Crews asked Choir Director Ahkeem Lee how he was feeling after learning they wouldn’t be moving on:
“We’ve been able to put Birmingham on the map, and we’ve been able to put the talents of these young people up, and they did an amazing job.”
Jessica Sanchez, a singer who moved on to the finals, said she felt honored to perform alongside the talented group of young people.
The other five out of six acts moving on are:
- Freestyle rapper Chris Turner
- Acrobats Sirca Marea
- Leo High School Choir
- Dance troupe Light Wire
- Singer Jourdan Blue
The Birmingham Youth Fellowship Choir, however, is returning to the Magic City heroes after representing their city on the national stage. Here are some images from throughout their time on the show.
Just after the results were announced Wednesday night, the 16th Street Baptist Church posted their accolades on Facebook:
“What a phenomenal performance from our faith-filled, fearless, and fiercely talented Birmingham Youth Fellowship Choir on this season of America’s Got Talent!
“Though the finals were just out of reach, your spirit shined, your songs soared, and your souls stirred hearts across the country. You carried the message of hope, harmony, and holiness from Birmingham to a national stage — and for that, we are beyond proud.”
Take a look back on the choir’s performances earlier in the show, and be sure to send them love as they travel back to Birmingham after a triumphant run.
