I mean this sincerely when I say I had one of the best self-care experiences at Society Wellness and Skin Spa in Vestavia Hills. From the warm staff to the thoughtful consultation and how my skin felt afterward—it was memorable in the best way.
Here’s what the whole process was like, step by step, plus how to book your own.
Step 1: A quick consultation

Society Wellness and Skin Spa is one of the newest spots to open in the Greater Birmingham Area, nestled off Highway 31 in Vestavia Hills.
As soon as I walked into Society Wellness and Skin Spa, the staff asked about my skin, what I normally do at home and what I hoped to get out of my facial. It only took a few minutes and showed me that my treatment would be tailored to my skin’s needs.
Step 2: Get a face scan

This part was surprisingly fun and was equal parts humbling and fascinating. They used a scanner to show my skin’s “age” across different categories. At 23 (with makeup on), here’s how I scored:
- Pores: 30
- Wrinkles: 23
- Vascular: 23
- Sun damage: 13
- Bacteria (sebum): 23
- Skin tone: 23
- Moisture: 27
Seeing these numbers provided my esthetician—and me!—with a clear image of what my skin needed.
Step 3: Choose your facial
Based on my results, I was recommended the Fire & Ice Facial to help with pores and dryness. I didn’t know what to expect, but my esthetician, Whitney, made me feel comfortable and gave my skin just what it needed:
- Double cleanse + hot steam
- Honey cleanser (my favorite step!)
- Glycolic mask for exfoliation
- Cooling mask with cold steam
- Finishing serums + moisturizer
The final result: My skin felt smooth, hydrated and amazing!
Step 4: See your results

After my facial, I headed back to the face scanner to get updated scores. My pore “age” dropped from 30 to 25, and my moisture levels increased by 10%—all after just one treatment. Shocked? So was I!
Check out these results:
- Pores: 25
- Wrinkles: 20
- Vascular: 23
- Sun damage: 33 (wear your sunscreen!)
- Bacteria (sebum): 20
- Skin tone: 20
- Moisture: 17
Step 5: Make your own face oil

The cherry on the top: Society Wellness and Skin Spa features a make-your-own face oil bar for free! Along with being cute and fun, it’s a great way to keep that “just-had-a-facial feeling” for weeks to come.
With help from Sierra at the spa, I mixed ingredients like squalane for moisture, tamanu for bacteria and rosehip for an unbelievable fragrance and glow. I now use it in my daily face care routine, and it feels extra special knowing I created it.
I know facials can feel a little intimidating (or indulgent), but this one felt approachable, fun and really effective. I went in expecting to relax and left not only feeling dreamy, but with glowing skin, a new understanding of my pores and a face oil I made myself.
If you’ve been on the fence about getting a facial or other spa service, this is a good place to dip your toe in.
