The Greater Birmingham Habitat for Humanity celebrated the beginning of its vibrant, purpose-built neighborhood with a ribbon-cutting event on Thursday, September 11.

“The Roebuck YMCA Neighborhood is more than a housing development—it’s a foundation for brighter futures. Families will not only gain safe, stable housing, but also live within walking distance of health care, counseling, and wellness services that strengthen the entire community.”

Located at 628 Red Lane Road, the upcoming Roebuck YMCA Neighborhood will be built in partnership with volunteers, community partners and local families who contribute “sweat equity,” complete homeownership education and purchase their homes through affordable, zero-interest mortgages.

By building the Roebuck YMCA Neighborhood next to the Northeast Community YMCA, the Greater Birmingham Habitat for Humanity hopes that families will soon enjoy walkable access to health care, counseling, fitness and other community resources.
