Tip: Act now to gain Global Entry with ease from BHM

Skip the lines + apply for Global Entry for even speedier travel. (Nathan Watson / Bham Now)

If you’re planning to head abroad in the next five years, Global Entry is a government program that helps pre-screen low-risk travelers for speedier re-entry into the United States upon their return.

Global Entry is perfect for frequent travelers, since it also grants TSA Pre-Check for domestic travel as well.

As part of the process, you have to go to a designated enrollment center for an in-person interview. In Alabama, those are typically only at the Hunstville and Mobile airports. However, for a limited time—between September 7 and 20th—you can take your interview at the BHM airport!

But you’ll need to act now to take advantage, as there are some steps to take before the interview period starts. Here’s how it works:

  1. Make sure you’re eligible: Click here.
  2. Sign up + complete the application for a Trusted Traveler Program. In this case, you want the Global Entry program, which costs $120 but is good for 5 years + free for minors.
  3. Schedule an interview once you receive conditional approval. Interview dates at BHM are between September 7-20th.
  4. When it’s time for your interview, make sure to bring your valid passport + another form of legal photo ID (such as a driver’s license).
