For a city its size, Birmingham boasts a top-notch food and drink scene. You can savor artfully-crafted sips and snacks no matter where you roam.
In fact, every time we poll our audience for the biggest point of pride of living in Birmingham, the thriving culinary community comes out on top.
So the next time you’re planning a big night (or dreamy day) out on the town, here’s a great place to start as you sip—and support—the local businesses who are helping to make Birmingham a delicious place to call home.
Magic City Sips brings more people to the table

We were excited to learn about Magic City Sips, a collective that helps spotlight all the great home-grown restaurants and bars that are contributing to Birmingham’s delicious reputation.
Magic City Sips is an initiative started by the City of Birmingham, via its Department of Innovation and Economic Opportunity, to be a go-to resource for these homegrown purveyors by celebrating their achievements, providing the info they need to ensure a successful business for residents and visitors and connecting them to potential customers.
They do this via:
- year-around events + gatherings
- the annual Sippy Cup Awards (more on that soon!)
- education + training
- staffing + job resources
What’s next? SIPS Social Industry Night is Monday, September 8 from 5-8PM at Magnolia Point. Here are all the details so you can attend!
