Carrigan’s closing on Morris Ave; moving to new development downtown
Reading time: 2 minutes

After 12 years, Carrigan’s is closing its home on historic Morris Avenue for good. But don’t fret—the popular local restaurant and cocktail bar will soon open a brand new location at The William, an upcoming mixed-use development in downtown Birmingham.
Carrigan’s moving to new development in downtown Birmingham

Founded in 2013, Carrigan’s has been a downtown Birmingham staple for 12 years. Located at 2430 Morris Ave, the popular restaurant and cocktail bar is known for its mouthwatering pub food, like the iconic Carrigan’s Corn Dog and Pub Loaded Fries.

Last year, Carrigan’s owner David Carrigan announced plans to move the restaurant to The William, a new mixed-use development led by David Carrigan’s firm, Clovenstone Real Estate Development. A redevelopment of a historic furniture/department store building in downtown Birmingham, The William will include:
- 27 boutique apartment units in three different styles: The Skylight, The Alley and The Avenue.
- A street-facing retail space
- An exclusive rooftop penthouse and bar
- A new home for Carrigan’s
Although Carrigan’s new spot will be slightly smaller than its current home on Morris Avenue, the new location will retain Carrigan’s iconic character and finishes—plus, the distinctive Land Rover back bar will be coming along, too.
Located at 1911 3rd Ave N, The William will be just a short stroll from downtown attractions like:
- The Alabama and Lyric Theatres
- McWane Science Center
- The Pizitz Food Hall
- Railroad Park
- An ever-growing list of restaurants, coffee shops, bars and more
Carrigan’s on Morris closes Sept. 6; new location opening in October

According to a recent post on social media, Carrigan’s will close its Morris Avenue location for good on Wednesday, September 6; the team aims to open the new Carrigan’s at The William in October.
