Farewell, Moss Rock Tacos & Tequila. Hello new adventure! (Bham Now)

If you’ve ever sipped a margarita on the patio at Moss Rock Tacos & Tequila, you know it’s more than just a restaurant—it’s a Moss Rock staple. Now, after seven flavorful years, the beloved eatery is closing its doors on Sunday, August 31.

Even though one door is closing, don’t worry—something exciting is coming to take its place.

A bittersweet farewell in Hoover

After seven unforgettable years serving up tacos, tequila, and good vibes in Hoover’s Preserve neighborhood, Moss Rock Tacos & Tequila will officially close its doors.

Owners Benard and Brianna Tamburello announced the news this week, thanking loyal customers for their support through the years, according to Facebook.

“This restaurant has meant the world to us,”

“We want to thank you guys truly from the bottom of our hearts for supporting us… It was a journey. It was a blessing.”

Known for its creative Mexican fare, festive patio and vibrant community feel, Moss Rock quickly became a favorite local hangout.

A new chapter: Welcome, Vecchia Gelato & Café

But don’t worry—this isn’t goodbye, it’s a new beginning! The Tamburellos are already working on a fresh new concept to take over the same spot on Preserve Parkway, and it’s got Italy written all over it.

Coming October 2025, the space will reopen as Vecchia Gelato & Café—a charming Italian-inspired café serving:

  • Bold espresso
  • Fresh-baked pastries
  • Sparkling spritzes
  • Gelato
  • Italian street food favorites

The idea was born from the couple’s travels through Italy, where they fell in love with the flavors, energy and café culture.

Before the final taco is served, fans are encouraged to stop by Moss Rock Tacos & Tequila one last time before the August 31 closing date.
