Five Birmingham-area public high schools named among the top 10 in Alabama by U.S. News

Five of Alabama’s top ten best high schools are in the Birmingham metro area, according to the recently released U.S News and World Report 2025-26 Best High Schools in America list.

The schools on the list are… 🥁

  • #2 – Homewood High School
  • #4 – Mountain Brook High School
  • #5 – Vestavia Hills High School
  • #7 – Hewitt Trussville High School
  • #9 – Spain Park High School

Loveless Academy Magnet High School in Montgomery was ranked the best public school in Alabama.

U.S. News reviews more than 24,000 public schools annually and ranks 18,000 for their 2025-2026 report. The list includes public schools, charter schools and schools that focus on STEM.
