Known for its charming monochrome line of prints, clothing, home goods and other one-of-a-kind treasures, White Flowers Gallery has been a local favorite for nearly four decades. Now, the popular boutique is moving to a brand-new location on Rocky Ridge Road in Vestavia Hills.

We spoke with Diana Hansen, owner of White Flower Gallery, to learn more about the move.

White Flowers Gallery finds a new home in Vestavia Hills

For nearly 40 years, White Flowers Gallery has been a mainstay in Birmingham’s design and boutique scene.

The gallery was founded in 1986 by Diana and Eric Hansen, a husband-and-wife duo with an artistic flair and an eye for design. Eric—a commercial photographer—suggested that the black-and-white floral prints Diana made to decorate their house would look at home printed on clothing, and the rest is history.

Over its 40-year run, White Flowers Gallery has operated out of the Brookwood Village shopping mall, Mountain Brook, downtown Homewood and—most recently—the Shops of Grand River in Leeds.

“White Flowers has been at the Shops of Grand River for three years, but now our lease is over. When I got the opportunity to move to this new space in Vestavia Hills, I knew it was a good fit.”

White Flowers Gallery’s new space will be located in the former Starbucks space at 2533 Rocky Ridge Rd in Vestavia Hills across from Publix.

White Flowers’ new space opening mid-September

According to Diana Hansen, White Flowers Gallery will complete its move from Leeds to its new location in Vestavia Hills at the end of August and hopes to be up and running by mid-September.

“My husband was a huge part of this business with me, and he died last August. I miss him more than I can tell you. I would tell him, ‘I want to do this or that,’ and he would make it happen. He was an amazing man and I wish he was walking out of here with me.

Maybe he is.”

Once open, White Flowers Gallery will be open from 10AM to 5PM, seven days a week.
