New cajun restaurant to open near Legion Field
Reading time: 2 minutes

Earlier this summer, Creole Connection across from Legion Field announced it was closing its doors. Now, just two months later, the restaurant has rebranded and is opening under a new name with a new menu: Bayou on 8th.
Read on for details.
New name, same authentic Cajun-inspired food
Although it has a new name and look, customers at Bayou on 8th can expect the same caliber of great food—just slightly elevated.
The menu consists of several New Orleans-style appetizers, entrees and even a full craft cocktail list. They also serve brunch on Sundays, featuring classics like chicken and waffles, hash and eggs Benedict.
Here’s a look at some menu items I have my eye on:
- Big Easy Alfredo—Creamy Alfredo pasta tossed with Cajun grilled chicken + Conecuh sausage, finished with a dusting of Creole spice + fresh herbs
- Red Bean Royale—Slow-simmered red beans with Conecuh sausage + smoked turkey, served over rice with honey-drizzled buttermilk cornbread
- Shrimp & Grits Supreme—Cajun-seasoned shrimp over creamy cheese grits, topped with rich Creole Cream and scallions
- Crawfish Cast-Iron—Cajun crawfish, roasted peppers + cheese bubbling in a cast iron, served with garlic butter crostini
They also serve lunch portions of select menu items, in case you’re looking for a quick lunch stop.
