Former Auburn + NFL football player to open restaurant in Lakeview

In 2021, former Auburn and Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Cassanova McKinzy opened Cassanova Bar & Lounge on First Avenue North. In 2024, the business had a little rebranding. Now, it’s made its move to Lakeview.

Three years after its opening, Cassanova Bar & Lounge announced its move from First Avenue North.
“We have completely outgrown our venue at 2312 1st Ave North and have decided to move to a brand new larger venue to bring our customers an even better version of the Cassanova they know and love…”

In May 2025, Cassanova took to social media again to announce its official new location.
Confirmed by signage next to Billy’s Tavern, which also reopened this year after a brief hiatus, Cassanova is reopening as Cassanova Restaurant & Bar.
Self-claimed “Lakeview’s newest obsession,” Cassanova will keep the same vibes we loved before, with fun new additions:
- An elevated dining experience
- R&B Thursdays
- Unique cocktails (like with flavored smoke!)
While there’s no confirmed opening date yet, the team has let us know that they are working hard to open the doors of Cassanova Restaurant & Bar by September. Stay tuned!
