If you’re traveling north on I-65 toward UAB on Wednesday, August 13, you may want to plan an alternate route.

Beginning around 9AM, weather permitting, the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) will repair the I-65 northbound bridge over 16th Avenue South—just before the UAB Boulevard exit.

During this time, one lane will be closed on I-65 northbound from 9AM to 2PM.

ALDOT asks motorists to consider: 

  • Using alternate routes
  • Adjust arrival/departure times 
  • Observe work zone speed limits + other work zone signs
  • Use extreme caution in this area
