SLIDE Café to reopen in new space in Five Points South
Reading time: 3 minutes

After temporarily closing for maintenance earlier this year, popular local restaurant SLIDE Café is back and bigger than ever. For the past few months, Chef Raquel & Angel Lenzie have worked on a new, larger café space to accommodate the restaurant’s growing crowd.
Read on for more details on what to expect when SLIDE Café reopens on Saturday, August 16.
SLIDE Café reopening in Five Points South
Founded by Chef Raquel in 2014 as the RL Restuarant Group, SLIDE has evolved over the last decade from a catering company to a food truck, then to a brick-and-mortar restaurant located at Pickwick Place in Five Points South. Now, the restaurant is entering a new era—with a larger space to accommodate its growing fan base.
“It’s been a very long few months, but I am reminded that Rome was not built overnight. We’ve pushed to the finish line despite so many challenges. We are nervously excited to be just a week away from opening. We both are very meticulous, so details matter.
We want to put forth our absolute best for new and old supporters, foodie friends, and those who haven’t experienced the taste of SLIDE just yet.”

According to a press release, SLIDE Café is now located at 1025 20th St. S., the former Pho Pho Vietnamese space in Five Points South.
SLIDE’s new location will feature the current brunch and lunch biscuit to bun sliders as well as new brunch items like French Toast & Ribeye & Eggs. The restaurant will also introduce Brunch & Soul Sundays, which combine SLIDE’s menu with the soul food from Chef Raquel’s SMOKE Bistro concept at the Pizitz Food Hall, which closed last year.
In addition, SLIDE will add a full bar featuring signature cocktails, mimosas, local wine and beer.
“What we would like for customers to experience in this new space as we elevate, is that what we have is good and that some think when you get bigger, that the personal experience won’t be the same. We have established a good launching pad with the customer service and hospitality, and we plan to keep that integrity as that is what we are known for.”
Angel Lenzie, Director of Marketing and Business Development, SLIDE Café
The restaurant’s new location will offer dine-in and outdoor seating, private dining, delivery and a cafe catering menu in addition to the current event catering menu.
