It’s a new week in The Magic City, and that means a new roundup of businesses popping up across town.

From a new tea house in Avondale to the return of a beloved Mexican restaurant in Hoover, here are six businesses that should be on your radar. Plus, two locals spot we’re saying farewell to.

Now Open

1. Southeastern Salvage | North Titusville

On August 4, Southeastern Salvage officially opened its brand new Birmingham location at the Factory at Golden Flake, a new redevelopment of the former Golden Flake Factory at 1 Golden Flake Drive in North Titusville. Southeastern Salvage’s new location features more than 66,000 square feet of exterior space and 135,000 square feet of interior space—more than double its former location in Irondale.

2. Cha House | Avondale

Last month, the owner of Red Bird Produce announced that the locally-sourced grocery store would be closing its doors for good after a year and a half in Avondale. Now, Cha House, a local community tea house, has transformed the former grocery store into a new space where guests can visit with friends, attend community events and enjoy a wide variety of speciality teas.

For the past four years, local entrepreneur and tea enthusiast Cierra Lober has hosted Cha House’s community tea experiences during community pop-up events. At Cha House’s new brick-and-mortar space in Avondale, guests can pick from more than 40 different tea varieties served in one of their unique tea cups.
