While we haven’t figured out how to make your daily commute smoother, we do have one way that will make you feel better about it.

For about the average cost of one tank of gas, you can turn your drive time into a meaningful mission with a specialty tag that raises money and awareness for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Alabama.

Learn how much these tags matter + how to get one.

Meet Albany

👆Watch the video above to hear from one young woman about her experience with RMHC of Alabama.

Now that you’ve met Albany, multiply her powerful story by the thousands of families with ill or injured children that RMHC of Alabama has kept together and cared for since it opened in 1979.

Take the Hyde family: When their son spent almost 15 weeks in the NICU at Children’s of Alabama, they were able to stay close by at the Ronald McDonald House.

“It was a tremendous blessing to us. There aren’t enough words to describe how grateful we are for RMHC of Alabama.”
Lauren Hyde

More immediately, there’s Ruger Ennis, who just celebrated his ninth birthday with his family at the Ronald McDonald House. This is his family’s second time in six years being able to count on Ronald McDonald House Charities of Alabama.

Born with reversed feet and without kneecaps, Ruger’s corrective surgery at age 3 was a success. He thrived until March of this year, when his kidneys inexplicably began to fail. Now diagnosed with the rare Nail-Patella Syndrome, Ruger is on dialysis at Children’s of Alabama, awaiting a kidney transplant.

How do these car tags help?

For families like these, RMHC of Alabama car tag sales have made a huge difference since the program launched in August of 2016.

  • For each car tag sold at $50, RMHC of Alabama receives $41.25, which it invests 100% into its services to keep families together when a child is ill or injured.
  • RMHC of Alabama car tag sales have raised $350,023 over the last 9 years, which helped provide 2,335 nights free of charge to families with sick or injured children.
  • So far in 2025, the tag has raised $26,317, which has covered 175 nights at the Ronald McDonald House.

Many of the people who purchase the tags are volunteers and grateful families who’ve received help from Ronald McDonald House Charities of Alabama, happy to help raise awareness and eager to give back and pay it forward.

“In November 2017, I gave birth to twin girls six weeks premature. I stayed at the Ronald McDonald House in Birmingham for four weeks. My Ronald McDonald House car tag is my way of giving back and supporting the cause.”
Quince Garrett
